TKV – Applying modern technology in coal mining

Over the past years, Vietnam Coal - Mineral Industry Group (TKV) has promoted investment and application of modern science and technology in coal production, considering this as a sustainable development strategy to increase productivity the mining output, and especially the saving of mineral resources for the country.


In the pit mines, TKV applies a system of mechanization and synchronous automation in coal mining, improving working conditions for the furnace, minimizing the impact on the environment, towards the goal of building a city the model of green, clean, modern mines and few people.


Breakthrough solutions


Ha Lam Coal Joint Stock Company is one of the pioneers in investing in modern technology, mechanized in underground coal mining of the coal industry. Up to now, the company has invested and put into use two fully mechanized market furnaces with the ceiling coal recovery mechanism, including a market furnace with a capacity of 600 thousand tons/year, a market furnace with a capacity of 1, 2 million tons/year. Thereby, the company's coal mining output has increased from three to five times compared with the previous chain link hydraulic price market furnace.


The Company has put into operation the Centralized Production Operations Center, integrating information inside and outside the furnace through the optical fiber system onto 24 large screens, serving the project of underground mining under the minus 50 m level.


If ranking underground coal mining units in TKV, Mao Khe is considered to be the mine with the most difficult conditions: methane content is at superclass (based on relative methane output. for), complicated geological conditions, always potentially unsafe risks such as water podium, gas explosion, ... Therefore, for a long time Mao Khe Coal Joint Stock Company has boldly innovated, applied advanced and modern technology to production, accelerated mechanization, automation in mining, mining, transportation, to increase productivity, reduce costs, improve working conditions of workers. Since 2007, the company has actively invested in testing a fully mechanized market furnace with a combination of 2ANSH anti-rigs. At that time, this was an advanced mining technology, applying the full thickness of the seam in the direction of the slope, requiring less labor, high capacity of the furnace, and safety in the production process. The company also deployed the main conveyor belt automation system, the coal industry's most modern underground conveyor belt, connected to the control center on the ground via car-out monitoring, greatly reducing labor costs. This is a breakthrough solution, applied for the first time in the coal production units of TKV.


Corporate goals


According to the 5-year technical plan from 2019 - 2023, the goal of operating the Group's plan is to maintain stable production, promote product consumption, and continue to improve the organizational structure and governance model saving costs, improving productivity and quality to ensure sustainable development, improving income, working conditions and welfare for workers, especially furnace workers.

Strive to 2023, the coal output exploited by CGH (synchronous CGH, light CGH, and other types of CGH) will reach 20-25% of the total coal output from pit mining. To strive for the target that by 2023 the rate of anchorage meter will reach 23 ÷ 25% of the total meter of a new excavation furnace. Accidental accidents, serious gas incidents, fire, mine watershed, and pit mine flooding are not allowed, meeting the mine's production stabilization requirements. Chairman Le Minh Chuan directed, in the period of 2019 - 2023, for the technical and technological work in mining and mining, the member units to strictly comply with the documents of the State and the Ministry of Industry and Trade; the instructions and regulations issued by TKV. At the same time, continuing to review, supplement and amend technological processes, documents, and instructional documents to suit production reality for general application throughout the Group.
