Vietnam Needs To Pick Japan's Experience In Wastewater Treatment

Currently, Vietnam has been learning from Japanese experience in domestic wastewater treatment. One of the very useful experiences is wastewater treatment with a closed process. All processing steps fit in one cycle.

1. Learning from the drainage system of the Kitakyushu

Experts in Hanoi, Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City ... have participated in courses on drainage management systems as well as wastewater treatment in Kitakyushu city of the country of the rising sun. Kitakyushu was chosen as a destination for Vietnamese members because it was built to become the typical city of the environment.

At the course dedicated to Vietnamese experts, with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the trainees had a chance to inspect the Water Environment Center, how to plan the drainage system of the Kitakyushu and how to maintain drainage facilities and sewers. They were also introduced to the drainage activities and river system of Kitakyushu City, how to effectively use sludge after wastewater treatment.

Learning the Japanese domestic wastewater treatment experience brings a lot of benefits:

• Wastewater after treatment will be safe and quality.

• Initial investment costs are not too high, using fewer chemicals in the process.

• The technology applies advanced domestic wastewater treatment, mainly using machines.

The treatment system can be relocated if the plants move to other areas. If there is a need to expand the system, the implementation process is not too difficult.

2. Learning from the Johkasou system

The Johkasou system can step by step replace the current septic tank systems in our country, firstly in high-rise apartments, hotels, restaurants, eco-tourism sites, villas and motels, hospitals, schools, military barracks ... to prevent early waste sources with large loads and then apply them to concentrated residential areas, old urban areas.

In Vietnam, the first pilot Johkasou system application project (2007) was in Dich Vong new urban area invested by Tu Liem UrbanDevelopment Joint Stock Company.

Currently, Johkasou has been and continues to be installed in many places such as New Urban Area North Highway 32 (Hanoi), Office of Southern Wastewater Treatment Company, North Thang Long Industrial Park (Hanoi ), Cho Ray Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City), Chi Linh Hospital (Hai Duong) and many other locations in the country.

Environmental improvement solutions which are widely applied in all Japanese society, with the domestic wastewater treatment system at Johkasou source deployed in recent decades, are valuable experiences for management environmental management in our country today. According to some experts, the situation of Vietnam is relatively similar to Japan in those years, so the application of the Johkasou system in our country is very appropriate and convenient.
