Activate response to protect clean water sources

Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Agriculture and Rural Development) has sent Official Letter No. 2911 to Ministries, Branches, Unions, and People's Committees of provinces and cities directly under the Central Government on organizing the response to the National Water Week Clean 2020.



The official dispatch states that the annual National Clean Water Week (from April 29 to May 6) was launched by the Prime Minister in 1998 and has been launched by central departments, localities, and people nationwide. Actively responding to help achieve encouraging results on water supply and sanitation, contributing to changes in the quality and living conditions of rural people.


In the context of the Covid-19 epidemic, complicated developments nationwide and the effects of climate change causing drought, water shortage, saltwater intrusion in the provinces of the Mekong Delta, South Central, and West Original. Responding to this year's National Clean Water Week, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development chose the topic "Rural clean water in drought conditions, water shortage, saline intrusion and disease" with the aim of improving understanding, responsibility, participation, and commitment of families, communities, mass organizations, socio-political organizations, and local authorities on the importance of using clean water and maintaining environmental sanitation, personal hygiene, household hygiene to protect the health, prevent epidemics, contribute to improving the quality of life, towards the goal of sustainable development. In particular, ensuring water supply for rural people in areas affected by drought, water shortage, and saline intrusion is very important and must be a top priority.


Accordingly, the National Water and Sanitation Week 2020 will be launched and responded to from April 29, 2020, to June 30, 2020, possibly extending to a campaign for the world cleaner (August 28) and integrated with other major events and holidays such as world environment day, major holidays April 30 and May 1.


On March 22, 2021, World Water Day Celebrations will take place online. This program is expected to start at 13:00 and end and 14:30 on March 22, 2021. Accordingly, on World Water Day March 22 this year, the United Nations will officially publish the Water Resources Development Report with the same theme and content of World Water Day 2021. In which, focus on Provide campaigns and incentives for water planners around the world.



World Water Day 2021 focuses on honoring water values and raising public awareness of the global water crisis, with a core focus on accelerating actions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Sustainable (SDG) 6: Water and Sanitation for All by 2030.


The theme of World Water Day 2021 aims to emphasize the economic, cultural, and social significance of water resources; Strengthen effective solutions to protect water resources against the pressures of development and climate change activities. In fact, the value of water is much higher than its price - Water is of great value and complexity for every household, food, culture, health, education, economy, and integrity of natural lips. If any of these values are ignored, we run the risk of mismanaging this finite and irreplaceable resource. Without a comprehensive understanding of the real, multidimensional value of water, we will not be able to protect this important resource for the benefit of everyone.
